Description

Started at grid SO 311 221. Headed West then North West up through the woods and up to Garn Wen. I then kept going along to Bal Bach then on to Bal Mawr. From here I then headed SW down into the valley and back up through Mynydd Du Forest and back up to the high ground to Pen Gwyllt Meirch. I then stayed up on the high ground and walked South to Crug Mawr. After this I headed back down the hill past the forest and and then Coed Farm, crossed the river and headed back into the woods where I first started the hike and back to the car park to finish.
This hike was a good one as it was new ground and I had a lot of variety to navigate through.

Area : Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park

Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) is a mountain range in South Wales. In a narrow sense, the name refers to the range of Old Red Sandstone peaks popular with walkers which lie to the south of Brecon. Sometimes referred to as "the central Beacons" they include South Wales' highest mountain, Pen y Fan. The range forms the central section of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog), a designation which also encompasses ranges both to the east and the west of "the central Beacons". This much wider area is also commonly referred to as "the Brecon Beacons".
