Started at the pub at SN 848 171. Walked down the road for a bit then up the hill to the quarry at Penwyllt. Followed round the quarry and up Nant Byfre to the summit of Fan Fraith and Fan Gyhirych. From about 400m in height I was in the cloud and visibility was very poor. I then headed East and summited Fan Nedd. From here I headed SSW to the SE corner of the large wood block. Then I pushed West back through to the quarry at Penwyllt. to return back along the tracks to the start.
This was a great hike in a new area. It was raining at the start of the day and all three main summits were approached in very poor visibility. Lots of off track navigation today.

Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park
Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) is a mountain range in South Wales. In a narrow sense, the name refers to the range of Old Red Sandstone peaks popular with walkers which lie to the south of Brecon. Sometimes referred to as "the central Beacons" they include South Wales' highest mountain, Pen y Fan. The range forms the central section of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog), a designation which also encompasses ranges both to the east and the west of "the central Beacons". This much wider area is also commonly referred to as "the Brecon Beacons".
