Description

A day teaching navigation to 7 ladies.
Starting in Askham, covering the area up to Heughscar Hill and using kettley gate as a base later in the day for bearings work.
The day covered Pacing, naismiths, tick features, Handrailing, catching features, taking bearings and walking on bearings.
All ladies picked up the new skills quickly and were very confident coming down from the hill.

Area : Far Eastern Fells

Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
