Description

Three days and two wild camping nights with six ladies. A birthday treat for one of them, they had the kit, and needed to hire a few bits from me. Leaving Nether Row we camped down Dale beck, near to Roughton Ghyll. Teaching all information about location, leave no trace, water, toilet and food ideas for a few days expedition.
Day two was up Roughton Ghyll. Little scramble, made harder by big packs, each lady having moments of nervousness at different points. We popped out at great sca fell. Over Knott, towards Lingy hut, leaving the rucksacks except mine and dropping to mosedale for a dip.
Back up for high pike, dropping to camp lower due to wind near stoney bank.
Finishing from the hill around 10:30am after awaking for sunrise.
Very windy meaning I had to change locations of planned camping, explaining to clients why etc.
Some rain first evening, but stayed dry thereafter.
Excellent three days with great ladies.

Area : Northern Fells

The Northern Fells occupy a circular area about 10 miles in diameter. The centre is slightly lower, an area of upland grazing and marshland known as Skiddaw Forest. This name may be misleading since the only trees form the windbreak of Skiddaw House. This isolated building, was once a shepherd's bothy. It currently serves as a youth hostel. Skiddaw Forest stands at the head of the three major rivers of the Northern Fells. The Caldew, Dash Beck and the Glenderaterra. These streams divide the circular area into three distinct sections.
