I planned this walk with my 'equals' partner.
Starting in Totland we walked South following the coast path for 1.2 miles/ 2km to Headon Hill. We were careful to stay on the footpath as there were very sharp drops to the sea on our right. The winding footpath continued to Alum Bay. 1.1 miles/1.8km. From Alum Bay we continued on the steep coast path to Coast Guard Cottages. 0.7miles/1.2km. We then headed North East on The Tennyson Trail to Tennyson Monument and Freshwater. 2.1 miles/3.4km. From Freshwater we took the small road heading East to Afton and at The Clubhouse turned left onto The Freshwater Way footpath. 0.3miles/0.5km. We continued on The Freshwater way for 0.4miles/0.6km and then crossed a small road at Afton Farm and then continued North on a small road, The Causeway, until we came to a church with a tower, 0.5 miles/0.8km, We followed the road for a further 100m and then turned right opposite the post office and headed north along a small road, Copse Lane to Norton Green. 0.9 miles/1.5km. We turned left in Norton Green and followed the A3054 Colwell Road for 1.1mile/ 1.7km and then turned off right just after Heathfield Farm on a footpath sign posted to Colwell Chine. 0.4 miles/0.6km We then followed the coast path South to Totland and our accommodation. 1.5miles/2.4km.
