I planned this walk with my 'equals' partner using OS Explorer map OL22 1:25,000 scale. The walk was a mixture of familiar tracks and also included some paths we had not previously used.
We took the Merrut Rd heading North from Waters Green and then left onto Rhinefield Rd, at the ford we turned left into Brookley Rd and headed to the end of the shops where we turned right onto Sway Rd and followed this for 300m to the school where we turned right across Culverley Green. 1.6miles/2.5km We crossed the road and followed North Weirs directly ahead for 0.5 miles/0.8km and as the track turned to the right took the path across Whitemoor heading East on open heathland until we came to the main track. 0.9 miles/1.4km We turned left at the track and followed it to Wilverley Plain and then continued across the open heathland to car park. 1.5miles/2.4km We turned right on the track and followed it to the main road and then continued on the same track to cross roads. 1.9miles/3km we then retraced our steps to the car park 1.9miles3km Heavy rain started. We turned right and walked to the end of Wilverley Inclosure to a large track, turned left and followed the track to the road. 0.5miles/0.8km We crossed the road and headed South East across open heathland to old railway track. 400m. We headed East on the railway track for 0.9 miles/1.4km until we came to open heathland. We walked parallel to the old railway track on the heathland for 1.4 miles/2.3km until we came to a track. We crossed the track and then continued over heathland for 0.4 miles/0.6km until we came to a railway bridge and road. We turned left on the road for 400m and then first left Sway Rd to crossroads, straight across to Grigg Lane and to Waters Green. 1.5 miles/2.4km
