I plotted this rote on the computer using OS maps 1:25,000. I walked with a different 'equals' partner.
We caught the train from Ramsgate to Margate and walked through the town to the coast path. We then followed the coast path mainly on the beach to Broadstairs. we needed to be aware of the tides and read the signs giving advice about where walkers could get cut off by the tide carefully. Parts of the route were over stones and rocks which were made slippery by sea weed. We needed to move through these areas slowly. At Broadstairs we headed up into the town and made our way through the small streets to join the coastal path which followed the cliff tops to Ramsgate. When we arrived in Ramsgate we made our way through the town to our finish location.
I learnt on this walk about different signs for warnings along the coast. I also was able to gain experience of walking on a rocky beach. I definitely wouldn't take inexperienced walkers to this area. It showed me that what looks like a gentle coastal walk has many potential hazards.
Total distance 16.72km. Time taken 4hours 10 minutes.
