Description

I planned this familiar walk using an OS 1:50,000 Explorer map.
I printed the map from an OS digital map on the computer. I looked at the familiar route and measured each kilometre and marked it on the map. I then checked each kilometre as I walked to check I had measured and marked it correctly. I also checked my timings for each kilometre. As I walked across the open forest I was very lucky to see some red deer stags a few metres from me.
Today I changed my measurements on my Garmin to watch to kilometres from miles. I also measured everything entirely i9n kilometres to completely change my way of thinking from miles to kilometres.
I learnt on the walk that I,' perhaps, walk a little too fast when walking solo for a group walk, depending on the group. I will need to be careful of my pacing for groups. My measuring was generally accurate and I felt the walk helped me to really focus on this.
Total distance walked 6km.
