We travelled in August to Wengen in Switzerland to do some summer trail walking. The day before we left we checked the weather forecast and realised snow was expected. We quickly changed our packing to include winter layers.
5 walks completed.
Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen. Along an easy river track. Torrential rain all day. 8km.
Brienz to Bonigen Alpine pastures, Swiss Cottages. Torrential rain. 18km
Lauterbrunnen to Bonigen incorporating Eiger Mountain Trail. Snow. 13km
Eiger Station to Wengen. Snow. 11km
Manlichen to Alpinglen via Kleine Scheidegg . Snow 10km
Grutscholp, Muren, and North Face Trail. ( This was the first day the trail had reopened due to the snow, it was still slippery in places and great care was needed.) 17.7 km
The weather conditions on some of the walks were challenging with slippery parts from snow and rain. I found walking poles a great help, especially going down hill.
