Description

A Rockhopper Mountaineering Club trip based at Fisherground campsite in Eskdale, leading a group of 10. From the campsite we followed the Esk toDoctor's Bridge before climbing upto Eel Tarn. From here a pathless route was plotted over Peelplace Noddle via Stony Tarn deopping down below Horn Crag to Sampon's Stones. As we set up beside Cam Spout the mist clagged in and it was awkward to spot the Foxes Tarn route to Scafell summit. A bearing had to be taken to find the route down to Burnmoor Tarn for the final descent down Miterdale, popping over Fell End and the return to the campsite.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
