Description

Wild camping trip to Loch an Thuill Bhain in heat wave weather! Led my wife Marion. Walked in from NNR Car Park Friday evening. Calm conditions required midge nets for packing up at car- once out of the trees they gave no further trouble. Very rough walking all the way in to the Coire after leaving path . Pitched brand new Hilleberg Anjan at loch side around 8pm , about 3 hours from car. After breakfast on Saturday did Spidean Coire nan Clach North Ridge scramble via route as described in SMC Guide, returned to tent via Munro summit, over Sgurr Ban and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe. Climbed Ruadh-stac Bheag on Sunday morning, back to tent, then walked out reaching car mid afternoon.

Area : Loch Maree to Loch Broom and The Fannaichs

This area contains four main sub-regions: An Teallach, The Fannaichs, Kinlochewe & Letterewe. The highest Munro is Sgurr Mor, part of The Fannaichs range, at a height of 1110m. The impressive Slioch (981m), although not the tallest, is described by the SMC Munros Guide as being ‘one of the great sights of the Northern Highlands’ and well worth a visit. This area sits to the north of the A832 and is almost completely devoid of human habitation.
