A lovely day walk out from our campsite. A walk of the Roaches starting in the south, walking North, dropping off the back of the escarpment and into Lud's Church chasm. A fantastic find!
We then walked back through the valley floor near to the river through the forest, eventually turning south and back up onto the roaches and make our return.
A relatively good footpath to follow but in unfamiliar terrain, and in strong winds with light rain made this day a really great opportunity for using appropriate clothing / equipment.
Area :
White Peak
Lies to the south of the Dark Peak where the underlying rock is limestone - hence the name. Tends to be a little lower in altitude and also may be known as the Derbyshire or Staffordshire Dales.
