Description

1st Rock Skills session outdoors with 9 participants. Used the East crag to set up. 3 pieces of kit, wasn’t keen on stability of one of them so added the extra. Not long enough rope for three long strands so used an alpine butterfly knot. Bomber set up, in reflection will move alpine to the fig 8 end of the set up not the other end. First line dropped down into the groove just to the left of cracks.
Set up to the right of joy and left of Sancho for second line again using 3 pieces of kit, fantastically bomber and nice set up for the line.
Wouldn’t change that set up.
Main description on Rock Skills tab. Got through all syllabus, and saw good practice all around.
I altered the first line at lunch to move up sancho which allowed greater success of participants. The participants showed great enthusiasm.
Then completed a group abseil to the left of mascara due to other areas being covered by other groups. Key safety consideration was attaching participants using safety line and then I coached them to a down step ensuring they were safe the whole time.
Reflection - brief and demo what to do at bottom in regards to kit.
Spouted good flora / fauna knowledge as well as geology which was brilliant

Area : Cornwall Coast And Hills
