Description

Out with Dan for his first lead climb in a long time.
Got there, set up a abseil / TR set up off of West wing, then lowered dan down, he then 'led' on a safety rope, placing gear and once up he set up his first anchor system and brought me up (lowered myself down to represent a climber). Then talked through IDEAS, he began altering his set up. Good system. Spoke about ABC, IDEAS and what could go wrong if a climber fell.
Helped Dan lead for Joy, pumped out on crux then moved to Sancho direct. Led well and his set up at the top was solid using 3 pieces of kit,
I then set up a quick TR set up, lowered Dan and practsed setting up a hoist system. Not bad, need to make it smoother. Began making it more complicated than needed to be really so went back to beginning. Altered the system and worked well. Practiced the assisted and unassisted. Set up abseil on williams chimney, Dan went down, I hoisted him up. Angles of rock meant it was quite a difference in angles for the abseil and hoist.
A good session for me, everything more relaxed and easy set ups.
