I planned the walk using an OS explorer 1:25,000 map. I had walked some of these paths before but joined them together to create a walk that was of a suitable distance for someone who had not walked them before. I explained that the walk was likely to be very wet in some places and good boots would be needed. The walk was across open heathland and through some forests. Although very muddy most of the footpaths were fine. However the last section across open heathland on a path was very wet and I led the way finding a safe way to proceed across the open access land.
