Description

avalanche risk on moderate on northerly aspects above 900m in sheltered lee ward slopes.
using the old military road to gain height, snow at 500m.
the purpose of the day is just moving well and efficiently in 1 axe terrain, an making good decisions on descent.
traversing the westerly slopes of meallan odhar to gain the ridge.
once on the ridge we moved well an fast, the down climb to the saddle was very exposed, and definitely aware of axe placements and feet. descending of the southerly slopes below the saddle and traversing east towards bealach Coire mhalagain back towards the old military road path.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
