Description

Mountains:⛰️ Aran Benllyn⛰️ Aran Fawddwy⛰️ Pen-aran
Competed in the Ras Yr Aran as part of the British Championships on 14th March 2020. The race was set in challenging conditions, with showers and mixed to poor visibility throughout the course. The lack of wind was a small relief, but the terrain was tough, especially with the reduced visibility. The race route included climbs up Aran Benllyn, Aran Fawddwy, and Pen-aran. The wet and slippery conditions made the ascents and descents particularly demanding, but the challenge was part of what made the race rewarding.Despite the tough conditions, it was a solid performance in a highly competitive field, and the experience added to my development as a fell runner. The event highlighted the importance of preparation and adaptability in variable mountain weather.

Area : Aran Range

Aran Fawddwy, which is only 9 metres (30 ft) short of being a member of the Welsh 3000s, is the highest peak in the Aran mountain range and the 16th highest summit in Wales. The other two Marilyns in this range are Glasgwm and Esgeiriau Gwynion.[4] It is the highest British mountain south of Snowdon and is the principal summit of the predominant southwest-northeast ridge between Dolgellau and Bala, southern Snowdonia, a ridge that continues westwards as Cadair Idris.
