Description

Spent the previous night wild camping (Base Camp for trip) North end Loch Etive NN454113
Left the road at NN467139 and headed East on a path then crossed a bridge over the river Etive, then followed a path through some woodland heading south east onto the shoulder of Beinn Chaorach, then south, east and finally south east to the summit of Stob Coir an Albannaich. From the summit cairn we went east then north, north east to the bealach.(Careful navigation was required due to the conditions and exposed path) From the belach we went North east over Meall Tarsuinn and continued north east onto the plateau of Meall nan Eun which is followed south east to the summit cairn. We retraced our steps aloth the plateau and then continued north west and down the coirean riabhach then picked up a path by the Alt Ceittlein which we followed back to Glen Etive.
The rain was atrocious during the walk out, my walking partner and i referred to this walk recently as the wettest day we have every had on the hill, the underfoot conditions were very wet and paths were running like burns.
We went back to our base camp and got into the tent and didn't go back out the rest of the night, the rain never let up, and the ground sheet started to let in. We packed up next morning and cut our trip short by one day.

Area : Glen Etive to Glen Lochy

This is the area south of Buachaille Etive Mor as far as the A85 (Tyndrum to Oban road). It includes the peaks around the Glencoe Ski Centre (Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh) alongside eleven other Munros and many other peaks above 600m. Highlights such as Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Ghabhar (1090) remind all-comers that this is an area of high mountains and low glens.
