Description

Teaching day for David and Frances.
I've done quite a bit single pitch trad climbing and Frances has seconded upto around vs. Wed be keen to push into multi pitch and Frances to learn more leading skills. So for myself I climb a few times a week either on plastic or rock I'm leading around s-vs with some harder stuff that's to my style or that I've previously seconded. Last climb was a vs. And I have previously seconded upto e2. Frances climbs maybe once a week, has led a few sports climbs I think to French 4 but no trad. She's comfortable seconding severes and most vs. However Frances is recovering from covid and rebuilding stamina again so maybe not pushing grades too much would be an idea ?
Grades: S-HS. Objectives: push into multipitch, Frances to learn leading skills. Venue: Bolchlwyd. Plan: pitch 1 in series: test, belaying, sling anchor, clip in. Pitch 2: gear retrieval for Frances, Frances to build a sling stance. Practice abseil from pitch 2. Pitch 3: David and Frances to build a rope stance and swap. Focus on rope work and stance management. Pitch 5 practice gear placement and retrieval, build more stances. Pitch 6: Frances to build rope stance at the top and belay. Pitch 6, 7, build more rope stances, practice footwork. Should have given more hands on tasks.
