This entry covers a two-day hike and wild camp near Ambleside, leading up to Red Screes. Nikki and I began our hike from the town of Ambleside, making our way up to a valley where we set up camp for the night. The entire hike was accompanied by persistent rain, testing our waterproof gear to its limits.Despite being in full waterproofs, the continuous downpour left us soaked, but we both maintained a positive attitude and still enjoyed the experience. The rain and moderate wind added an extra challenge, particularly in setting up camp and packing up the next morning. On the second day, after packing up our wet gear, we ascended to the summit of Red Screes. The climb was straightforward but demanding due to the wet conditions. After reaching the summit, we descended back into Ambleside and made our way back to the car.Although the weather was challenging, this outing provided valuable experience in managing adverse conditions, navigating in persistent rain, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience despite the discomfort. The trip reinforced the importance of preparation and adaptability in the mountains, making it a memorable Quality Mountain Day.
