Description

Shadowing Mike from Mountain and Sea Guides. 2 clients on a winter mountaineering week. 1st day looking at movement on snowy and icy ground as well as the chance to grab a summit. Crampons on and axes out as soon as we were in to coire laoigh. I covered some movement skills and crampon techniques and mike covered ice axe arrests with a chance to slide around and practice.
The headwall of the coire had very firm neve so care taken on the approach. Descended via a short traverse east off the summit then back in to the coire via the broad gully here.

Area : Cuillin and Torridon (Liathach)

This area is on the west coast of Scotland and its most well-known mountains are probably Beinn Eighe (1010m) and Liathach (1055m). The area is bordered by Loch Maree and the A832 to the north and Glen Carron and the A890 to the south. It should not to be confused with The Cuillin which is on Skye and listed in the Western Isles region. The mountains list contains all peaks above 800m.
