Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
I have known Ben for a long time, initially as a colleague and more recently as a climbing partner. I have climbed with Ben in a huge variety of terrain including alpine, sport, trad, multi pitch and single, winter climbing and walking and even some via Ferrata. Ben enjoys travelling and has ended up with a fairly extensive international logbook, which only increases his decision making abilities in the British mountains. Ben is a cautious and considerate climber and instructor, he stays within his abilities while at work and is a very safe pair of hands on a session or event. Ben is a well rounded outdoorsman, but his strength lies in rock climbing particularly, he went from New Zealand to El Chorro and, to my disappointment, came back a solid few grades better than me… I have personally climbed with Ben well above the required grades for MCI (E1 Multipitch, 7b sport) and have worked with him on some fairly hairy mountain walks. After Ben completed his RCDI training, he came along to shadow/assist on some learn to lead sessions I was running. Ben was a steady pair of hands and got some time on a jug line next to a real first time leader, where he delivered a fantastic, calming first lead. I fully recommend Ben for the MCI scheme, and offer him any assistance needed on his journey. Joe

Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
Ben is a passionate and motivated climber, who has loads of enthusiasm for all things climbing. I have worked extensively with Ben, it is clear that he loves sharing his knowledge, experience and passion for the outdoors with others. He has a relaxed approach which relaxes his clients and allows them to achieve their goals through his progressive and thorough teaching style which means learners get the most out of days with him and importantly have a great time too. I have no doubt that Ben will make a brilliant Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.
