Description

Teaching navigation day with group of 2 mock clients. Started in the ciste car park and headed to various contour features around Lochan na Beinne before heading up the Cha-no ridge and on towards Cairn Gorm via Cnap Coire na Spreidhe. Contoured around Cairn Gorm and taught various nav techniques as we traversed the plateau through Coire Raibeirt and Domhain. Headed out towards Macdui but due to time constraints we turned around and headed back. Descended via the twin burns path into Locahn and back towards car park on the main path.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
