Started at Rhydd Du- ascended up through the quarry beneath Yr Aran, up the South Ridge and Bwlch Main ridge with Rachael, my friend from LLanrug. I taught her the basics of map reading, taking a bearing and grid ref. she felt a little bit exposed on the ridge but not too scared. I encouraged her to be brave and have a little step up, to build her confidence with the exposure. She did really well. Rachael helped me with my understanding of welsh language and we talked about the Welsh Not and the impact this still has on the welsh Psyche, in some areas. really useful in building my knowledge and understanding of the area.
We descended via Llechog and noted what we thought looked like lava flow, down near Rhydd
Du- this spiked my interest in Snowdonia's geology!
All in all, a very enjoyable day. Extremely hot and clear weather, so was always mindful of exertion and hydration.
