Description

Have a friend who is going through his ML journey and wanted me to assess him.
We walked west from the Ben Lawers car park and the along the fore track. He had planned to do the long walk in first and then come back along the ridge. This was because of the south westerly winds and also his preference of going up the scramble to Meall Garbh rather than down it.
A few mistakes made along the way with trying to make the land match the map. Rather than telling him I coached him into thinking what was wrong. My process was to get gin to out his map down by his side and describe to me what he could see on the land around him. Once he was clear in his description I then got him to look at his map. This helped him realise where he had gone wrong and was able to adjust accordingly.
A good day had and he is definitely ready for his ML training next week

Area : Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay (Ben Lawers)

This area covers the peaks to the north and east of Crianlarich. Glen Lyon forms the northern boundary while the road from Crianlarich to Aberfeldy is the southern boundary. The Ben Lawers group in the east of this area includes seven separate peaks, all Munros, which are part of an impressive 12km ridge line. The western side of this area is generally lower and not as steep but does still home some a number of Munros. All major peaks above 600m are included in the mountains list. The area to the north is Loch Rannoch to Glen Lyon.
