Personal day out taking some novice but hill fit friends.
Went to attempt Beinn Mheadhoin. Visibility very poor from 1141, whhere took a bearing towards coire raibeirt to drop to Loch Avon.
crampons and axes needed going down the coire, very frozen and water ice in places making it a little tricky.
Crossing the burn, our friend fell in. Completely soaking herself, and after putting her in dry layers and dry socks we returned together back to the cars, as we now didnt have enough dry clothing spares and her feet were wet.
Weather was deteriorating quite a lot and did require navigation back to 1141.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
