Description

Parked at NN255 789. walked up the main track South to the Lairig Leacach bothy and dropped some overnight kit there. Followed the Allt a chuil choirean WSW up to coire claurigh. Here our main objective was the Giants staircase scramble (grade 2/3). Excellent scrambling options which could be made more or less difficult. Guided one mock client and used the rope to protect steeper sections which made for a 'climbers' outing on the slabs. From the top of the slabs we headed almost directly south to join the good path to the summit of Stob Ban. Followed the broad ridge east from the summit and used the walk back to the bothy as some nav practice along the ridge.
One night at the bothy and an easy walk out in the morning to the car.
