Description

From Invercauld bridge we walked out through Altdourie and in to glenn an t-slugain until the ruins at 119 952. Here we followed the track north along glas allt mor to the sneck and camped in Garbh coire for 2 nights. Climbed Mitre Ridge and squareface on the first day in perfect bluebird conditions. On the walk out we tagged the summit on Ben Avon by heading along the high ground from the sneck North East to the summit and back (left heavy climbing/camping bags at the sneck for the quick tag of the summit). Walked out as per the walk in. Leading 1 'mock client' for a days climbing and some navigation practice in and out of the camping spot.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
