Solo walk from Cadair car park in the south, up to the lake for a wild camp. The aim was to go to the top, but with the scree slopes / being alone in late evening / new terrain I decided against it for safety (and I was knackered from the walk to the lake with all my kit!)
New area for me so ground / terrain was new, lots of scree slopes to deal with which tested confidence and ability. Not much map reading to be done here.
Wild camp which tested some different shelter ideas - went for a Tarp instead of a tent. Worked with new trangia stove also.
Main learning point was the actual terrain compared to how the map showed it. I was using a Harvey map for the first time, and it was good to learn how a Harvey map deals with terrain compared to OS.

Cadair Idris
Cadair Idris or Cader Idris is a mountain in Gwynedd, Wales, which lies at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park near the town of Dolgellau. The peak, which is one of the most popular in Wales for walkers and hikers,[1] is composed largely of Ordovician igneous rocks, with classic glacial erosion features such as cwms, moraines, striated rocks, and roches moutonnées.
