Description

Start: Parking near Ribblehead viaduct SD 76533 79282
Distance: 39Km
Duration: 10 hours 45 mins
Direction: Anticlockwise circle following Yorkshire Three Peaks route
Description: Yorkshire 3 peaks Challenge including 1585m ascent, 39k walk, tops of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen y Ghent. Met and joined another walker who was doing it at similar pace to me - this was good but showed sensitivity of pace when pushing ourselves - how would a group do it? We did manage to encourage faster pace of each other. Two of the three tops were in cloud. 'Limestone pavements' (meaning natural features) which the path goes over were hazardous and slippy, perhaps more of a hazard due to fast pace of the challenge. Very rewarding challenge, good time, three new peaks completed and lots of thought into how this would be a challenge for a group and how it could be managed.

Area : South Yorkshire Dales

Most of the larger southern dales (e.g. Ribblesdale, Malhamdale and Airedale, Wharfedale and Nidderdale) run roughly parallel from north to south. Includes the Three Peaks, Malham and Langstrothdale/Wharfdale.
