Direction: NE over moorland and Glengaber hill then SE through Wanlochhead and over short cut paths avoiding road track up Lowther Hill, taking the steeper more direct route. Continue beyond radar station up and down over tops E then SE then E between forest works, over Daer reservoir dam then from Hods Hill S SE through forest to join minor road into Beattock.
Description: Lowther Hill as part of Southern Upland Way National trail (which is mostly lowland). Historic gold mining information at Wanlochhead. After radar, no visibility over hills and no signs of path for 4k, requiring navigation skills. Joined 2 other walkers after Daer reservoir.
