Direction: Follow Southern Upland Trail ENE over Croft Head and continue over tops, descend to Etrick water then ascend N over Penistone Knowe; follow S bank of St Mary's Loch then NNE by Tower House and through forest to Blake Muir top then down to village.
Description: As part of Southern Upland way National Trail. Lots of ups and downs, significant total ascents over a very long day. Thick fog above 500m meant some navigation necessary especially as too many paths very visible, making for some confusion. Bagged bothy at Over Pawhope.
