Description

Well done. Feedback from Andy.
Evo: (To be used as a reference for him towards exemption - If you need this in another format (e.g. scanned, signed letter then let me know when you know what you need)
I spent two full days including one night navigation session and an overnight wild camp with Evo in order to perform a mock assessment of his mountain leadership skills (primarily navigation and steep ground management). This took place in the central Lake District in predominantly poor weather with very low visibility during the day and night. During this time Evo consistently demonstrated a very high level of navigational competence. The navigational standard that Evo demonstrated was consistent with someone who has spent many years navigating in the military both in his reconnaissance role and as a military mountain leader. Since then he has continued to work teaching navigation to prospective mountain leaders in his role at Adventure Quest. As a leader he is clearly very passionate about being in the mountains and appears to have a good understanding of group management. He showed a good level of ability in his risk assessing and management of groups in steep ground and has wide-ranging knowledge and interest in the mountain environment. In my opinion I feel he is a very strong candidate for ML assessment based on what I observed.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
