Shadowing day 2 of ML Training with Graham Uney Mountaineering. Today was about the group experiencing a QMD. The route took us from Mardale Head north onto the ridge heading up to Rough Crag. From there it was looking at group management over steep ground before reaching the summit of High St. My 3rd time up there but first time with views :-)
From the summit we headed down the Eastern Ridge of Mardale Bell. This was a good opportunity for the group to descend steep ground, specifically looking at route finding. Throughout the day there were many discussions including flora and fauna, walking pace and more
Area :
Far Eastern Fells
Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
