Unpaid guiding for my partners brother and his girlfriend.
We did a loop from Ogwen cottage up to Llyn bochwlyd, then up the Y Gribin ridge. Topped out and visited Castel y Gwent before heading over to Glyder Fawr, then down to Devils kitchen where we headed down past Llyn Idwal.
Today was great for me to provide some basic map skills to Dave & Chloe, but the main thing was making them feel safe and comfortable on the scrambling section. Complete novices to scrambling, they did really well listening to my instructions and I thought that giving ‘refreshers’ in movement skills prior to any difficult bits, plus reminding them periodically, helped them focus and deal with the new way of moving. This built confidence in them and myself which was great.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
