Description

A snowshoeing walk to a Corbett called Meall Tairneachan which I organised partly because I'd persuaded my friend to buy snowshoes. I was hoping to climb its neighbour, Farragon Hill too, but the weather deteriorated and I thought it was best to turn back after the first hill. I chose these hills because there is a good path most of the way and few steep drops, but even so, as we approached the summit we were hit by blizzards and visibility became extremely poor. After reaching the summit, not only was the navigation difficult (due to poor visibility) but walking upright was not easy too, and I was very glad to get back to the path.

Area : Bridge Of Orchy (Beinn A'chreachain) To Schiehallion

The mountains immediately to the south of Loch Rannoch and to the north of Glen Lyon stretch all the way from Schiehallion (1083m), the birthplace of Charles Hutton’s contour lines, to Beinn Dorain (1076m) near the Bridge of Orchy. There are twelve Munros and a number of other peaks (above 800m) in the mountains list. The peaks to the south of Glen Lyon are included in the Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay area.
