Description

In the Sibillini National Park, Umbria I led an HF Holidays group of six people from Rifugio Perugia up to Monte Patino then down to Castelluchio. 15 km and 560m ascent. I could have decided not to include Monte Calarelle and Monte Vetica, because of this decision and some slower part members, it was becoming difficult to complete the walk in time for the transport. At first I was thinking of letting some people have an extended lunch at the col (Forca di Guida). However there were too many flies so we all pressed on. I let a couple of people go ahead so they made the summit.
It would have been quicker to have gone round the side of the Monte Patino to reach it's second summit but it was clear that some of the party were nervous about the exposure.
So a good decision to be cautious about the exposed path but not such a good decision to include the extra peaks. Got back in time anyway.
