Description

central mournes.. west side...

Carrick Little car park to Meelmore Lodge summitting.. Binnian, Ben Crom, Bearnagh.

lovely blue sky day -- turning overcast during the day
mild breeze

distance : 10.1 mile
elapsed time ; 5:50
elevation : 3,700ft

dry on the ascent of Binnian, definitely not rained here properly for a while
down to the Ben Crom dam and then circle west around Ben Crom on a sheep track ... when that ran out ascended direct to Ben Crom.

Crossed the Ben Crom Bog.. not much of a bog these days. Definitely needs the efforts of Mourne Heritage Trust to instal dams and increase the water retention.

Random spotting of a clump of Butter Wort on the ridge leading up to Beranagh south col. Looking a bit bedraggled, but hardly surprising given the arid conditions.

had a bit of a scramble around the south Tor or Bearnagh before descending to the Hares Gap and heading to Meelmore lodge.
