Description

Teaching climbing day with Asdaq, in preparation for a multi pitch teaching day later in the week with his partner. We looked at some things to make Azzy's trad climbing more efficient and a little safer as much of his experience is self taught or with friends. Azzy did lots of seconding to see how I protected him on a variety of routes (with or without traverses, single or double ropes), how I selected the belay type (in reach, out of reach, direct or semi indirect) and we looked at systems for tidy rope work, like rigging the belay, standing with your back to the next pitch (if you're leading everything) and flaking the rope over you tie-ins to get it out the way and create a clear picture. We finished off with a couple of harder routes for fun and to test how well he can pull on something a bit steeper/more technical.

Area : Highland Outcrops: Strathnairn and Strathspey

This area encompasses all the crags in Strathspey north of Kingussie and also those in Strathnairn. These crags are described in the chapters of the SMC Highland Outcrops South guidebook entitled 'Strathspey' and 'South of Inverness', with the exception of Creag Dubh (which is in the West and Central Highlands region in DLOG).
