Now heading up the Khuma river, which we understood was deeper than normal, so good to do it in the morning. The rope came out for the crossings & was held taut by 2 men at either end. Interestingly, the strategy was to go diagonally upstream each time. At least 15 crossings. lightweight Helen had total immersion on 3 of them, lost her hat and Stanzing lost a shoe on the first one. He continued to be heroic using 1 slipper tied on with a nylon bag. Dorje also heroic as he crossed singly & found a way along the far bank so that we could throw a rope at a better place for us. Finally, Norbu & Rintzen came back from the horses to assist with the last 4 crossings. Camped at Khuma Sumdo, now a day behind.
