Starting from Whinlatter pass I camped on Whinlatter, bagging a Wainwright and enjoying the full moon over the fells. I used this to do some easy night nav between knolls and small dips on the hill before settling down for the night using the south west side of a Knoll to shelter the wind. A breezy night made for poor sleep, after quick coffee breakfast it was down to the car for a drive down to loweswater. Here I set off from near Kirkstile inn following the steep path marked on the map for Melbreak, up the scree face I stuck to the path and tried to limit erosion. Along the top the steep sided fell gave brilliant views. Following the path down south off Melbreak I traversed round some easy grass slopes before heading across the bog and thick rush of the valley, maintaining as much height as I could and following a straight line from a sheepfold on the compass toward Hen Comb. From Hen Comb again a straight line down and across this time dropping lower to avoid the wettest area and find an easy river crossing for a drink also. I then aimed for a shoulder on the south east of Gavel to ease the gradient of the climb. Following good paths and fences I Bagged Blake Fell and Burbank fell in the clag which cleared on Burbank summit back to a lovely day. From dropping onto bridleway and through some woods following a diversion for felling we made our way back down through past the pub for a pint and dinner booked. The next morning summiting Low Fell and Fellbarrow.
