Day one was spent getting to the gouter hut. Steep loose and hot. Had a very bad time crossing the grand couloir due to rock fall. Three attempts, and a very close near miss, which saw me very nearly turn back. However, made the hut, which had only been open for five days. Incredible place to spend a night.
Daw two, early start, setting off in darkness following the trail of headlights was impressive yet daunting to look up at how high they went.
Brilliant sunrise but clouded over for the summit sadly, bosses ridge was the most exposure I'd experienced so far. Was brilliant. Hut to summit in four hours, taking in the dome de gouter on the way back.
Back down in chamonix by 4pm. A very long day. A big wish on my list complete.
