Description

Assisting 2 other instructors with managing 2 groups at Bleaneglyn doing some gorge walking.
This was the first time in this gorge for me, so I paid close attention to the approach and the hazards. It's a really tame little gorge, more like wet scrambling/rock hopping than gorge walking like in the Sychryd or the Mellte. But there was a deep pool to jump in at the end, which was a nice bit of excitement for the groups.
The terrain proved difficult for some of the children, with some making slow progress as they wouldn't walk through the gorge, but opted to crawl on hands and knees due to them not trusting their feet. As I was at the back of the group, I decided to get these participants out on to the bank and walk them back up to the group whenever the group got too far ahead.
Overall a rather pleasant day in the gorge... though for next time I'm here I won't be using a wetsuit. Maybe time to invest in a dry suit and big wellies for this gorge.
