I completed the Bob Baxter Challenge solo and unsupported, covering all of the Manx peaks. The day was extremely tough, with heavy rain, poor visibility, and moderate winds making the terrain even more challenging. The route was a relentless mix of bogs and off-track navigation, requiring constant attention and physical effort. Despite the miserable conditions, I managed to push through and complete the challenge, securing the Solo Fastest Known Time (FKT) for the route. The challenge included summiting 27 peaks across the Isle of Man, with a total ascent of over 4000 meters. The poor visibility and rough terrain made navigation difficult, but the experience was a true test of endurance, both physically and mentally. Achieving the Solo FKT was incredibly rewarding, particularly given the adverse conditions. The combination of distance, elevation, and challenging weather conditions made this a quintessential Quality Mountain Day, demonstrating resilience, self-reliance, and strong navigation skills in a demanding mountain environment.
