Description

Started at Inverlael followed forestry track and then footpath on N bank of Gleann na Sguaib to beneath main Beinn Dearg crag (looked at penguin gully but dripping). Continued up to col at NH262 819. Ascended Beinn Dearg via NE ridge and then return back to col by same way. From col ascended Meall nan Ceapraichean and continued over Ceann Garbh. Descended NE for approx 300m and followed a descending shelf through steep ground to loachan at NH 266 836. From lochan took a fairly direct line to summit of Eididh nan Clach Geala. From summit descended W to flattening on ridge at NH 252 843. Descnded in SSW direction to join footpath descending from Lochan a'Chnapaich. Followed path back to forestry track and back to car.
Thawing temperatures but good snow cover above 850m. Poor visibility on Beinn Dearg with intermittent rain/sleet/hail through day and gusty wind. Leading one other adult.

Area : Loch Broom to Easter Ross

North and east of the A835 is the area from Loch Broom to Easter Ross. This road is also the main access point for walking and climbing in the area which contains seven Munros, the highest being Beinn Dearg (1084m). The Ben Wyvis ridge stretches from southwest to northeast from the road towards Loch Glass. Mountains south of Ben Wyvis are in the Glen Cannich to Glen Carron area, whilst those to the west are in the Loch Maree to Loch Broom area.
