I have known Mr Peter McNamee for over 15 years and have climbed with him since 2009. During that time, we have climbed as equals every year. A summary of our partnered climbs is as follows: • Trad in the grade ranges D to E2, 76 of those multi-pitch (e.g. Vector, Debauchery, A Dream of White Horses, Malbogies, Botterill’s Slab, Doorpost, Grooved Arete). • Sport up to 7a (for Pete) (e.g. Horseshoe Quarry, Masson Lees, Penmaen Head, Llanymech Quarry, Vallorcine). • Winter in Scotland up to grade IV (e.g. Invernookie, Raeburn’s Route on Bidean nam Bian, Tower Ridge). • Mountaineering in summer and winter (e.g. Welsh 3000s summer, Aonach Eagach ridge winter). • Alpine in Europe up to grade D (e.g. Gran Paradiso Northwest Face, Mont Blanc du Tacul, Aiguille de la Tsa, Cosmiques Arete). • Bouldering throughout the UK. Throughout this period he has been a reliable, trustworthy climbing partner. He has a broad interest in many aspects of the mountaineering and climbing world including ethics, history, flora, fauna, geology, nutrition and sports science as well as leading, coaching and instructional techniques. In terms of my own relevant qualifications, I am certified to lead UK military personnel on summer mountaineering, scrambling, single- and multi-pitch terrain worldwide. This is through the UK military’s Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) and Advanced Summer Leader (ASL) qualifications, which I have used successfully in leading military climbing expeditions in the UK, Alps, Dolomites and South America. I also hold a UK civilian SPA qualification.
