This area is situated on the north-western tip of Scotland and contains 4 Munros (from biggest to smallest); Ben More Assynt (998m), Conival (987m), Ben Klibreck (962m) and Ben Hope (927m). Also included in the mountains list are all of the peaks above 700m. The southern boundary is the road which joins Ullapool to Lairg and then to the A9.
Althoough this was a Moray MC club meet I found myself walking alone from Acheninever Hostel. As there was fesh snow with freezing level initially below the summits I climbed up to the Coire below Speicein Coinnich to reach Ben More. New snow was deep and soft, old snowfields still frozen hard but still crossable without crampons as I avoided the steepest. Then it was Sgurr an Fhidhleir. Temperature now rising above the summits, but still no visibility other than the odd glimpse down to Lochan Tuath. Return to Acheninever.
