- Ascent Llangarbh
-Decent Great Gully
I took Ben scrambling, he is a very keen rock climber and has done a few Severe routes leading on Trad.
he has never experienced big mountains before so scrambling was a great into for him.
He described the day as Fun and Fast. Which was very necessary due to it being so wet and cold.
Llangarbh is a really fun scramble but the start is very boggy and I dont think it would be my first choice on a wet day again.
Key learning points:
every time i built a belay he then belayed me up as i led the next pitch, painting a good picture for his future development in trad.
I got his to clove hitch himself into belays and helping him rack his harness and sort gear on his harness.
Due to the nature of the day of keeping us moving I didnt do to much teaching.
Area :
Loch Linnhe to Loch Etive (Glencoe South)
The southern side of Glen Coe includes some very well-known mountains and can be split into two groups; the ones you can see from the A82 and the ones you can’t. Included in the former group is Buachaille Etive Mor, Buachaille Etive Beag, the Three Sisters and the Ballachulish Horseshoe, and in the latter, three Munros between Glen Creran and Glen Etive (Sgor na h-Ulaidh, Beinn Fhionnlaidh and Beinn Sgulaird). With huge amounts of climbing and walking in summer and winter, this area is also home to a large cairn built for Queen Victoria, or so the story goes. Includes all major peaks above 600m.
