Teaching Day:
1 client, started on Scimeter ridge at the bootom of the glen, looking at belaying, building belays and moving on rock.
My mock client had done a bit of climbing before but had had a number of negative experiences and was looking to slowly ease back into climbing.
so after the morning of scrambling and climbing on scimeter we then moved on to the gutter.
it was dry and and excellent progression for my client.
i broke the climb up into 4 small pitches, coaching her and helping her rack her harness, clove hitching into belays. I very slowly progressed each belay stance to have something slightly new to talk about but very much drip fed information.
Stack abseil to decend. she had abseiled before and i was comfortable with my judgement to do a stacked abseil.
Area :
Highland Outcrops: Glen Nevis and Poll Dubh
The Polldubh crags provide one of the most popular groups of outcrops in Scotland, with a range of excellent climbs suitable for climbers of all abilities. The cliffs on the other side of Glen Nevis and in the Steall Gorge are also included, as are all the other cliffs in the Glen Nevis section of the SMC HIghland Outcrops South guidebook. The sport climbs of Steall Hut Crag should be entered in the Sport climbing section of DLOG.
