Description

Winter Skills - 2 day Skill course
Working for Highland Climbing Company
2 clients, based out of the cairngorms, looking at skills and movement on the first day in the Cas. Due to quite tricky weather conditions we stayed in the cas and 1141 ridge to escape the winds and practise skills. the afternoon we went onto 1141 to experience 50kph winds then dropped into sneachda and went onto the ice by ficialle buttress.
Day 2, better weather allowed us to get onto the tops, summitting cairnorm and then across to the top of hells lum and back down 1141. aim for teh second day was to journey and have more time in crampons and practising the skills we had learnt on day 1.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
